What A Feast! Happy Thanksgiving

We had such a great day! This morning we made a bracelet and it tells all about the First Thanksgiving!

1 brown bead for the pilgrims leaving England
1 white bead for the sails on the Mayflower
3 blue beads for the long trip across the ocean
1 green bead for when the pilgrims saw land
3 clear beads for the long hard winter
1 green bead for the spring
1 tan bead for the Native Americans helping the pilgrims
1 red bead for cranberries
1 yellow bead for corn
1 brown bead for turkey
1 orange bead for pumpkin pie
Sorry its blurry but you get the idea

Then we made our napkin holders. That was a great activity for following directions! Got to throw those in there every once in a while so why not make a cute turkey to practice. I can't figure out how to turn the picture. Sorry I am not "techy" and I am doing well by getting these onto the blog :)

Then we had our feast! The kids got to be pilgrims or Native Americans. I drew names out of a cup to decide who would be what and the kids "get what they get and don't throw a fit". Works like a charm!
They were so cute in their hats!

Then we got to watch Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving which is great because it goes right along with our discussion this morning about the first Thanksgiving!

So Thankful!

We gave been working hard all week on some great activities. We talked about being thankful and the kids made Turkeys with what they are thankful for written on their feathers.
We also have been working hard on nouns and adjectives. Today we made a cutting book that builds up as you go. It has great adjectives in it. The kids really enjoyed making it.

It has been a fun week so far! Can't wait for our feast on Friday!

Nursery Rhyme Hoe Down

Our nursery rhyme unit is over and we had a lot of fun bringing it to a close with our hoe down!

We had some kids dress up! They got to play bingo, musical chairs and make a Mary Had a Little Lamb craft.

Spiders!

Last week we studied all about spiders. We learned the parts of a spider. We created a class spider and then labeled it. The kids made their own spiders in their science journals and then we had Spider Friday for some fun educational activities!
Click on Spider Friday to see some cute pictures of the activities! Thanks Shari!

Boosterthon FunRun Pep Rally

Wow! We sure did have fun at the pep rally yesterday! I think my ears are still ringing a little! There was music, dancing, cheering and prizes. Here are some pictures of the pep rally, courtesy of Shari (Britain's mom)! The actual fun run is Friday Sept. 21st at 8:30am! I hope to see you all there! Your child can get pledges all week. The more pledges they earn, the more prizes they get! They are so excited!

A Great and Busy First Two Weeks!

I can't believe that the first two weeks have come and gone! There has been doing a lot of learning in kindergarten!

The students are already becoming readers and writers. I introduced our first Daily 5 center called Read to Self. The kids love it! They are working hard on building their stamina! They were able to read for 5 minutes straight the other day. I am so proud of them!
This week I am introducing Read to Someone. They got to practice today and they did really well with it.
We have also been learning our colors. We learned red last week and we are learning blue this week.
In math, we have been learning how to make number sets and we have been doing alot of problem solving.  We have been practicing our math station rotation and how to set up and clean up stations. They are getting really good at it.

It has been a great first two weeks!
